Fall Cleanup, October 2011

This year our fall cleanup included 106 volunteers at three sites. We had some hard-working new participants: Barrie School, which is a new member of Neighbors of the Northwest Branch, and the Blair High School Crew Team. The Neighbors of the Northwest Branch--as well as the Northwest Branch itself--thank you! And many many thanks to our repeat leaders, who carried the load in W. Hyattsville and who have become subject experts on trash. They pronounced those plastic bags festooned in the trees a real pain in the behind to reach (paraphrased from the actual quote). We all hope that after January 1 when Montgomery County's bag fee goes into effect, and once Prince George's County follows suit, bag trash will almost disappear! Please see results and pictures from each site.

NNWB hosts these "Clean the Stream" activities every spring and fall at various sites along the Northwest Branch. Please check the NNWB website in the spring for the time and sites of our next cleanups.
