Spring has sprung,
Invasive plants have riz.
And Neighbors of the NW Branch
Are deep in the removal biz.

On Saturday, April 26, 2008, a team of 12 Neighbors of the NW Branch and friends yanked out 552 pounds of the alien invasive Garlic Mustard from the Northwest Branch Stream Valley Park near where the trail crosses Kemp Mill Road. This was part of the Parks Department's Garlic Mustard Challenge. We didn't win the prize, but we sure cleared away fields of Garlic Mustard, giving our native flowers and ground cover a fighting chance! Countywide, volunteers pulled nearly 6 tons of Garlic Mustard. Senator Jamie Raskin (Dist. 20) was among those who helped at our site.
