Log Jam at the Foot bridge site

This "wildcat" clean-up required some participants to get into the water to pull trash from multiple layers of fallen trees and woody debris. Seven volunteers pulled 9 bags of trash from the logjam, and a couple more bags from the surrounding area. They found only one car tire, and dug one bike tire from the sand. Much of the trash was glass bottles and balls of various sizes, styrofoam, and a metal fencepost still in excellent condition.

John Fay, Ed Murtagh, Suzanne Donohue, and serendipitous helpers Eric Gabeler with his son Doug, and Sonali Parry pose triumphant but tired with most of the bags.
Sonali's husband, in waders, was still collecting trash upstream with the other child and missed the photo. Kudos to this couple for introducing their children early to appreciation of nature and the need to care for it!
