Ta da! The cleared area, a month later. A sapling finally can breathe and spread its leaves to the sun. The fallen log is still free of green vines. We got most of the Mile-a-Minute before it produced ripened berries, but the area will doubtless need some attention next spring. Battling invasives is a job never definitively done.
